🔗 Share this article Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients. The Grave Charges The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021. One deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.” The Investigation The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley. The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th. Breakdown of Offences The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise: 15 counts of assault. 17 counts of penetrative assault. Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen. Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration. One count of attempted penetrative assault. Police have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
